Quotable Quotes

I just picked up a copy of Still Life With Woodpecker by Tom Robbins.  After the dedication and before the prologue there are a couple of quotes, one of which I just love.  It got me thinking.  What are some of your favorite quotes?

Here's the one that I read:

"You don't need to leave your room,
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
Don't even listen, simply wait.
Don't even wait.
Be quite still and solitary.
The world will freely offer itself to you.
To be unmasked, it has no choice.
It will roll in ecstasy at your feet."
-Franz Kafka

Ooh - I like this. I'm a quotations FREAK.

Right now my top ones are these:

Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death. ~Author Unknown

Our strength is often composed of the weakness that we're damned if we are going to show. -- Mignon McLaughlin

Vocatus atque non vocatus, Deus aderit.

That last one is my consistent favorite. It never changes.

I have TONS of favorite quotes in fact I keep them in a file on my computer (once I get them off my back up CD from my 'pre-Mac' days or 'before the enlightenment'). I will try to track them down and share some.

I have a white board in my office, upon which I write a daily quote. Some past favorites include:
"One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important." -Bertrand Russell
"Always acknowledge a fault. This will throw those in authority off their guard and give you an opportunity to commit more." -Mark Twain
"Beware lest in your anxiety to avoid war you obtain a master." -Demosthenes
And my absolute favorite...
"Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." -H. L. Mencken
